Meet Our Team!

Hello! I hope everyone had a great Halloween! If anyone dressed up as characters from books, share photos of your costumes on our FB group! My kids have been

reading the Harry Potter books lately, and so we decided to dress up Harry Potter-style this year. We had Harry and Hermione, of course, Aragog the spider, Dobby the House Elf, and my husband and I dressed up as Tonks and Mad-Eye Moody. It was so fun!

A bit about our team...

My Sweet Romance is a product of Howard Marketing Group--a marketing company dedicated to helping self-published authors find success with their novels through paid advertisement, social media, and any other way we can help them succeed! Our team here at My Sweet Romance Books is comprised 100% of stay-at-home (and book-loving) moms that love the chance to aid their family financially as well as be at home with their little ones. We each work for Howard Marketing Group and have varied experience and connections with writing, authors, and marketing books in many different ways.

Lately, you have just been hearing from me, but we are gearing up to invite other members of Howard Marketing Group to write blog posts and share their insights, experience, and tidbits about books with us, too. Get excited for some great blog posts coming up!

We thought it would be fun to introduce different members of our team from time to time, so you can see and get to know who is behind the screen. :) Today, you'll get to learn a little about me!

Introducing Taleah Kear!

What do you do for Howard Marketing Group?

I mainly create and manage Amazon ads for books by independent authors. Besides that, I am learning how to create and manage Facebook Dynamic Creative Ads, and I also do some editing and consultation.

Where have you lived?

I was born and raised in Minnesota. I went to school at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and lived in Utah for about 14 years, and recently moved back to MN with my family about 2 years ago. I also lived in Portugal for 18 months while serving a proselyting mission for my church.

Tell us about your family.

I am the oldest of four children and have a large family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who mostly still live in Minnesota (woot!). I am married to Richard Kear, and we have 4 amazing and energetic kids ages 9, 7, 5, and 1.

What is your favorite book/book genre?

It is way too hard to pick just one favorite book! A couple of my all-time favorites are the Little House on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. In general, I love to read historical fiction that is based on real events and people.

If you could live a day in the life of any book character, who would it be and why?

Not to sound cliché, but I would love to switch places with Hermione Granger for a day. How amazing would it be to walk into Hogwarts castle, go to a Care of Magical Creatures class, try out some magic, and maybe get sucked into a little adventure in the Forbidden Forest? Also, Hermione is just a freakin’ awesome character- so smart, so kind, so daring!

What is your favorite food?

I would have to say burritos/tacos are my favorite food because it’s a regular on our menu and I never get sick of them! But I am also a sucker for Indian food. So good!

Other hobbies/interests besides reading and writing?

I love music- I have performed in choirs, small musical groups, and musical theater since I was 10 years. I also play the piano and organ and teach music to children at church. I love to cook and bake. I also love the outdoors- hiking, camping, rock climbing, canoeing/boating. Any kind of outdoor adventure, sign me up!

What’s one of the most daring or crazy things you’ve done in your life?

I am terrified of heights, but I also love rock climbing and hiking, so there were many times I forced myself to hike or climb up high places in the mountains in Utah and it was always worth it! The best/most epic hike I’ve done so far is probably hiking to the summit of Mount Timpanogos (American Fork, Utah) twice.

Have a good week! Stay tuned for some new bloggers from our team soon, and as always, happy reading!
