Meet Havelah McLat

Introducing the winner of our International Women's Day giveaway, author Havelah McLat!

About Havelah

Havelah McLat grew up on a small farm in rural Ohio with her family. They live on a farm with cows, goats, cats, ducks, dogs, and a lot of chickens. As a kid, she spent a lot of time drawing characters and animals. When she was thirteen and saw her older sister writing a story, she wanted to be like her, a writer. She started off writing fan stories like Tinker Bell to go with her own fairy characters. During the summer of 2011, she wrote her first original short story about a basilisk lizard and a fairy.

As she got older, her passion grew to writing stories about the world, faith, and topics that matter to her. She doesn't just write fantasy stories, but likes to dabble in different genres, like sweet romance, inspirational, children's books, and sometimes historical fiction. She has written several short stories: The Whole of the Moon (a story inspired by the song by The Waterboys) Catharsis (a historical/biography fiction based on Andrew Wyeth and his famous painting), Christina's World, and Stars (a short freestyle poem), and they have been featured in various anthologies.

A Forever Summer is her debut novel, and she has another book, When You Returned, releasing in April 2023. She hopes to continue to publish and share her stories with the world. When she is not writing, she likes to read books--especially historical fiction set in the 1900s-1930s--and draw characters. She shares her artwork on her website. In her free time, she helps with events at her local church and community and spends time with her family.
